Never Underestimate the Power of the Ex, DblA Interview Sneak Peek

I was in Germany throughout the weekend for the Ecoroll Cup. After arriving in Germany late Thursday there was a storm warning, because "Emma" was going to hit Germany.
"Oh, great" Emma being the name of my ex, I had a feeling that this just wasn't going to turn out well. As expected, my ex hit German mainland reeking havoc. Two an a half hours before the start of the race with all my gear packed and a pre-race intensity building up, I received the message that it was going to be cancelled due to Emma. At that moment there was a nice weather passage way with no clouds cutting right over Celle. It even stopped raining between 12:00 and 15:30 (race would've started at 14:00). Oh, hell there was wind, but it was still skateable! With regard to the 4K kids race and the fun-skaters calling it off was surely the right decision (Don't want kids blown off the asphalt). But when taking the 14Hrs of traveling I had to do for a half marathon that didn't take place, at a moment, where the weather was nice enough to skate into account, it was a crappy decision.

So off I went back to Hannover (car), to Düsseldorf (train), to Aachen (train), to Maastricht (bus) and to my appartment (on foot) in a pretty pissed off mood...
And whose fault is it?
It's Emma's fault!
There has to be some sort of mix of theories, laws and powers at work! Murphey's Law mixed with coincidence or vengeance. With her being religious: Is God taking vengeance upon me for leaving her?
Is this a sign? -You left me so I will curse you with bad weather?-
This isn't how my season was supposed to start!

So: My team will be moving our pre-season race test to a different German race, but since Emma might be reading this I won't tell...

Maybe I'm just paranoid?

BTW The Ecoroll Cup will still continue. The second half-marathon will count for the entire cup. There is no room for screwing up the race and I think there will be more competition since the improving weather conditions tend to get more skaters to roll out of their sports halls.

German news:

Junior skater Patrick Räthel might sign with one of the bigger GBC teams this season. Patrick took bronze at the 2007 German marathon national championships in his age group. He was nominated as a member of the junior national team (for the marathon only). Discussions are being held, so nothing is official yet.

Aaron Arndt on Life and Skating in the past, present and future

I finally finished the interview I lead with Canadian pro skater Aaron Richard Arndt. Here's a sneak peek:
[...] After last year, I wanted back. I wanted to race every single WIC race over again. Every course, every turn, every approach into the sprint. I talked to Dani Grab, my team manager last year, about coming back this year and I had a position secured. But that team folded. Bont was putting their money into their women’s team, and we lost the Bee Company team sponsorship to the Swiss national junior development program. I was left with no team and not much time to find one. I was a little panicked[...] More coming soon...
